We have had a busy time learning about our Canadian Olympians and watching our medal count grow. After exploring the different sports that Canada would be competing in, the students each selected a Canadian Athlete to research. We used the following website https://olympique.ca/athletes/ to find our information as it can be easily switched from French to English to help with comprehension. This also helped to increase their vocabulary as they made connections between the English and French language. Due to the snow day on Friday, some friends are not finished their research in the HAPARA workspace and are encouraged to take the time this weekend to finish this assignment. I have gone in to the workspaces and made some corrections/suggestions and will go in once more on Sunday afternoon.
We also began our Ancient civilisations unit, of course beginning with a look at Greece as it relates to the History of the Olympic Games. We will continue to move forward with this over the next few weeks.
HOMEWORK; Duotang Bleu: Les yeux de Madame Danielle: Lecture et questions
Due to the snow/ice day, some students do not have the story in their blue duotang but it is always accessible on the Hapara Workspace under French: Lecture étudiée
LENTEN COLLECTION: we are supporting the Shepherd's of Good Hope this year. We are asking the grade 4 students to bring in bars of soap. Thank you for your generosity!!
Tuesday February 27th, our first "Giving Day", will be HAT DAY at Georges Vanier. Students will be encouraged to wear their favourite hat and to bring in $2 for Shepherd's of Good Hope. Your child may bring in $2 or you may also pay for all three "giving days" through cash online. We are strongly encouraging the students to do something special at home to earn the money for these giving days.
